The Mason name was derived from the rich history of masonry work in the area. Brick masons were a fundamental part of Fulton Market’s architectural history—they literally laid the foundation for the many brick facades that still stand here today. As the area experiences an almost unprecedented boom in construction and development, glass office buildings and modern, concrete buildings have begun to take over the skyline. However, at The Mason, we have turned to this history of the skilled masons and their craft, to inform the character of our building from day one. Today, The Mason Apartments bring their take on the classic warehouse style building, crafted with contemporary designs and unique amenities. The brickwork throughout the building serves to root the new structure in the traditions of the original brick masons, while bringing the best of luxury living and design to Fulton Market all for you to call home.
From the outside, our striking black steel exterior serves as the perfect nod to the urban loft and warehouse styles found throughout the city, and especially in the West Loop. Brick detailing and finishes carry into the interior spaces, like our convenient “flex working” rooms, ground floor social space, and expansive, state-of-the-art fitness center, creating a truly unique environment to work and relax in. Our other community spaces and interior units continue to reflect this rich history and style through “Soft-loft” style finishes, featuring exposed concrete ceilings and columns, Parsons-style kitchen islands with honed granite counter tops, wide-plank wood laminate flooring, and contemporary matte black fixtures. It’s these details, along with our expansive amenity spaces, that truly set The Mason apart from other buildings, while continuing to build on our neighborhood’s rich architectural history.
